PASTORAL CARE, VISITS, PRAYER AND HEALING

At Calvary, we invite members to help identify individuals in need of pastoral care and to deliver services to them, including meals, greeting cards, friendly visits. During the next year, we hope to form a pastoral care or member care team to work together to provide support for church members in any need or trouble.

EMERGENCIES

For Calvary members’ pastoral emergencies, Joanna’s cell phone is available. If you are being hospitalized, are having surgery, have a death or serious illness in the family, are experiencing a personal crisis, or have been arrested, please call Joanna at 859.03-665.

PASTORAL CARE AND VISITATIONS

Both the rector and assisting clergy may make visitations to persons hospitalized, in recovery, or homebound. Sometimes, or when requested, communion is brought and shared. Other times, prayer and companionship will be offered. Lay persons are also encouraged to visit persons who are unable to attend church or church activities because of illness, injury, or other infirmity. This is a ministry of all the baptized, not just of the ordained, so we welcome the community of care by all members.

HEALING PRAYER AND ANOINTING FOR HEALING

Prayer and anointing for healing, using holy oil, is available by the clergy at any time. In care of emergencies, please call Joanna. Prayer is also offered on Sundays, both orally in the Prayers of the People and as noted in our worship bulletins.

If you wish to have a special anointing and prayer for healing, please contact a priest. We will be happy to help.

HEALING PRAYER GROUP

A group focusing on learning about, and doing, lay healing prayer is currently being formed. Led by James Ruttkay, the group will learn about the various kind of healing prayer, and will discern whether they are called to add the healing prayer ministry to the 10:30 Sunday service.
